Eleanor Ardel Vietti
Eleanor Ardel Vietti biography, was an American missionary who served the Lord in Vietnam during the extremely difficult times of the Vietnam war. In her teens, when God miraculously healed her from a serious infection, she felt called to do something more than just worship God. In her college, she came across a group of young girls praying over their lunch in the hospital canteen. Her association with them led her to join the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. There having listened to testimonies of several visiting missionaries, Vietti committed herself to the mission field after completing her medical studies.

Facing opposition from family members but with the certainty of God’s call, Dr. Eleanor left for Vietnam when the country was in a state of political instability. She began working at Ban Me Thout Hospital treating advanced-stage leprosy patients.
Even the guerrillas who were against the Americans received her tender love and care. She was able to free the patients from their superstitious beliefs with the help of the Gospel. She crossed jungles to make house visits to diagnose leprosy at the primary stage and increase the chances of recovery.
She also conducted prayer meetings and gatherings in the hospital premises.
Eleanor Ardel Vietti ministry in Vietnam
In April 1962, she briefly visited her family in America and returned to the mission station within a month. On 30th May 1962, Viet Cong (a revolutionary political organization) raided and ransacked the hospital. They destroyed the Bibles. At gunpoint, they took with them three missionaries, and Dr. Eleanor Ardel Vietti was one of them.
She was just 34 years old when she was kidnapped and there is no information of her whereabouts since then. After a search of 40 long years, the American government put her on the “presumed dead” list in 1991.
Sometimes God does not let the world know about the end of some of his beloved servants like Enoch, Moses and in modern times, Eleanor Ardel Vietti!
