Reginald Heber ministry in Europe & India
Some of them include “Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!” “From Greenland’s Icy Mountains,” “Brightest and Best of the Sons of the Morning,” and “The Son of God Goes Forth to War.” He believed that Heaven is a place of eternal singing, and we must be trained on the earth to fit in there one day. His efforts saw a great improvement in the church’s music and singing.
While Heber was actively traveling around Europe encouraging the churches, he was appointed as the Bishop of Calcutta (which included the diocese of British India, Ceylon, and Australia) in 1823. He traveled ceaselessly to fulfill his duties as a Bishop. He served as an able administrator and displayed splendid enthusiasm for gospel propagation.
With his boundless energy, he traveled to set up schools and to establish and consecrate the churches. Despite the harsh weather and the travel was taking a toll on his health, he never ceased to visit the churches in need to strengthen them in their faith. During one such visit to the Trichinopoly district, after preaching to a large outdoor congregation, he suffered a stroke and then went to be with his heavenly master.
Beloved, are you training yourself to make yourself fit to reside in Heaven?
