She then attended the College of Missions and Butler College. Following her graduation in 1928, she sailed for India.
After finishing her language studies, she was appointed at the Jackman Memorial Hospital and the Nurses’ Training School at Bilaspur. The hospital and its dispensary served a community of 30,000 people in Bilaspur and its surrounding villages and was the only hospital for women and children in that area.
Clark remained the only American nurse stationed at the hospital and at times in the absence of the doctor she had the responsibility of superintending the large hospital as well as the nurses’ training school. She was so dedicated to her service that she once did not go home after her regular term so that she and the doctor might not have to be absent from the hospital at the same time.
She also served at the local church and helped in the translation of textbooks for nurses. After serving in India for nine consecutive years, she returned to the US to take a special course on anesthesia to train the Indian nurses along the same line. Her dedication to serving the Lord faithfully resulted in the spiritual and physical welfare of many Indians.
