Vision: Muslim world

Vivienne Stacey was born in a nominal Christian family. While studying at University College, London, Vivienne realized that she lacked inner peace what her Christian friend Barbara had. Once, Barbara took her to a youth meeting after which one day Vivienne knelt down and prayed.

She had a vision of Jesus Christ and eventually the change of heart. She attended another meeting at which a missionary spoke about how God had called her to work among lepers in India. By the end of the meeting, Vivienne understood that God is calling her to serve in foreign countries and Luke 12:48 confirmed it to her.

Vivienne Stacey ministry in Muslim World

Knowing the difficulty in evangelizing Muslims, she realized that her call was to work for the Muslims. Later, she joined Zenana Bible and Medical Mission (later became ‘Interserve’) and requested to send her to Pakistan where she can teach and train Pakistani Christian women to be witnesses among Muslims. In 1955, she was posted in the United Bible Training Centre (UBTC) in Gujranwala, Pakistan.

At UBTC, she was extensively involved in teaching and other programs. She was one of the founding members of the ‘Theological Education by Extension’ ministry in Pakistan. Later, she started to visit Gulf countries every year during vacations to understand the situation of Pakistani Christians working in those countries.

Her reports and training helped others to serve there. In 1975, ‘Interserver’ relocated her to Bannu at the Pak-Afghan frontier. She also worked part-time with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) for the Middle East and North Africa. She traveled extensively to Muslim, Middle-East, African and other countries including India, teaching and training leaders to minister among Muslims. She also wrote several books and articles in English and Urdu. In 1993, Vivienne retired from Interserve but continued her writing and itinerant ministry.

Beloved, have you realized what is your call?
